Saint Cadoc, also spelled Cadog, was a 5th-6th-century abbot of Llancarfan in Glamorgan, Wales, a monastery renowned as a centre of learning where Illtud studied under him. He is credited with founding churches in Cornwall, Brittany, Dyfed and Scotland, was known as Cattwg Ddoeth, the Wise, for a collection of his maxims, and is listed in the Roman Martyrology under 21 September. His Norman-era life is one of the few early texts to mention Arthur independently of Geoffrey of Monmouth.
